The 2012 Chess Year
With the recent conclusion of our AGM in January and the reconstitution of the BCF board membership, subject to confirmation, several newer members have been nominated. The long-standing board members of BCF who have been around for many many years are pleased to see several younger members join the board.
It is hoped that many more will join and play an active role in the federation, keeping it alive and hopefully one day take over the reins of the administration of BCF; by doing so actively promoting chess and maintaining BCF as one of the oldest sporting institutions in the country.

The 2012 chess season is shaping up to be jam packed with tournaments. Aside from our usual blitzes, rapids and classicals, this year we will also host the Campomanes Memorial Open and most likely the Borneo Cup. In addition, this year the majority of our regular blitzs and rapids will be rated by FIDE.
Some of the tournaments, most likely the classicals, will be used in the selection process for the Brunei team that will represent the country in the 40th Olympiad that will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, later this year. So expect some fighting chess at the board!
