December 4th-Sunday Blitz Result
The last tournament of 2011 ended today, 25th December, with a triumph for Md Aliuddin, with FM Yee in second and Pak Eko in third place.
The first blitz tournament of 2012 will be played on Sunday the 8th of January at the Brunei Chess Centre. The Brunei Chess Federation will also hold its AGM on the same day and at the same venue.
As we bid farewell to 2011 ...
Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates. Several tournaments have been run since July and the results page now reflect the outcome of those events.
The last 4th-Sunday blitz will be played on Sunday the 25th. The blitz ranking table have been updated though it's still not 100% certain who will emerge on top after the final blitz.

HM Birthday Tournament Rules and Regulations
(20-07-2011) Details of the rules and regulations governing the tournaments to be held this weekend are available for download together with entry forms: download rapid; download blitz.
Clarification:
There are three tournaments this weekend, namely
- Friday 22nd: Team Rapid in Seria,
- Saturday 23rd: Rapid Open in Bandar,
- Sunday 24th: Blitz Open in Bandar.
Rapid and Blitz Team Events
As part of the continuing events in honour of His Majesty's 65th birthday celebrations, a team rapid is being organised on Friday 22nd July. This event will be hosted in the BSRC in Seria. On the Saturday and Sunday that follows, rapid and blitz tournaments, respectively, will be held in Bandar.
FM Yee is the 2011 National Champion
The National Championship for 2011 was won by FM Yee Soon Wei with a score of 5.5/7. The runner-up is Pg. Abd. Rahman PLW Yussof and the second runner-up is Md. Aliuddin Hj. Azahari.
In the junior section, Md. Iqbal Abqari took first place with 6/7 followed by See Jun Wei(5/7) in second place and Paddy Koh(5/7) in third place after tie breaks.

Sunday Blitz
The 4th-Sunday blitz will be played tomorrow (26th June) at BCC starting at 2pm.
(This event was won by Aliuddin who also won the May Sunday blitz.)
HM the Sultan's 65th Birthday Chess Tournaments
With the recent conclusion of Pesta Sukan Remaja (Youth Sports Festival) which saw the Brunei-Muara team triumphant in the rapid and blitz sections of the chess event, the next big event in the calendar is undoubtedly the National Championship and the July tournaments held annually in celebration of His Majesty's birthday.
The first round of the National will be played on the 1st of July using FIDE classical time control. Seven rounds will be contended.
The July rapid will be an all-day nine-round affair to be held on the 23rd of July. A blitz tournament will be held on the following day.
Standard Chartered Bank Seeing is Believing Chess Event
30-05-2011. Standard Chartered Bank hosted a chess event as part of their Seeing is Believing initiative, last Thursday. Photographs from the event can be found in the gallery.
